Austin Family Farm |
 Glen's
fruit is picked ripe and beautiful, with full season production due
to his range of varieties. I wanna be in his CSA! |
 Hail
covers protect the apples. Glen and his grandsons have done quite a
bit of successful grafting and have developed their own apple variety. |
|
 Eames
Peterson let us visit in September before harvest. |
 Eames
describes the winemaking process in cool cellar. |
|
 As
part of a Mountain Harvest Festival farm tour, we visited Wayne Talmage's
farm on a rainy morning. This pear was delicious! |
 A
turkey shows off his fine plumage. |
Zephyros Farm and Garden |
 Don
and Daphne milk goats and make cheese. |
 Zephyros hoop
house is twice as long as ours. They have other greenhouses and sell
cut flowers as well as nursery plants. |
 Daphne
leads us through her garden. |
 After
farm tours, we relax with visitors to our farm. |
Papercrete on Redlands Mesa |
 Newspaper
makes the best and is picked up around the county to mix with cement. |
 Water,
cement, and paper pulp mixed to proper consistency and poured into
molds. |
 Blocks
move down conveyer belt to drying tables. |
 These
blocks are a few hours old. |
 The
finished blocks can be used for structural and insulated building
blocks, mortared with papercrete mix or cement. |
 Happy
interns! |
