New Pond II, Summer 07-08 (Part I)
Geo-griddin' it |
|
Lowering
the water, then stretching the geogrid. We had the help of Synergy
House Reunion, past and present, as organized by Max Harper. |
The
goal is to separate a deeper portion of the pond to contain the irrigation
water sediment, then pipe into second chamber. |
The
agri-drain (box standing in middle of peninsula) controls the flow
into the larger part of the pond. |
We
had lots of raw materials, including all the rock that came out of
the pond in the first place. |
Lots
of hands got the work done in no time at all. |
The
geogrid keeps the soil in place to root water loving plants like bullrushes. |
Big rock pile disappears |
|
More
landscaping and rock pile removal followed several weeks later. |
This
big rig moved boulders easily. |
![]() Wink wanted more shoring up at the foot of the pond, so much of the rock went there and was covered again by soil. |
![]() Now instead of huge squirrel housing rock pile, we have a couple of gentle hillocks. |
Complete
with bullrushes and frogs. |
